AI Suggestion on the data point toolbar is the shortcut version of the assistant: instead of asking a question, you ask it directly for a value for this data point.

What happens

The request runs a stricter pipeline than an ordinary chat message. It searches your own material more than once, broadly first and then narrowly, and it is required to return an answer in the exact shape the data point expects, whether that is a number, a date, a block of text or a table.

You get back three things:

• the suggested value, shown in the real data point editor so you can see how it will look,
• the reasoning, explaining how it was arrived at,
• the sources it consulted.

Applying it

Choose Apply to field to write the value in. Nothing is saved before that. The saved value is marked as AI-written in the history panel.

What it is good at, and not

It is good at assembling a narrative answer from material you already have, such as a previous report, a policy document or an indexed attachment, and at matching the format the standard expects.

It is not a measurement system. For quantitative data points it can find and reuse numbers that exist in your documents, but it cannot observe your operations, and a figure it produces must be checked against the source before you report it.

Each suggestion spends AI credits, and more of them than a short question does, because the pipeline searches your material several times.
