Accounts and access
How an organisation is set up, the ways you can sign in, and what decides which parts of the application you see.
Getting an organisation
An organisation in The Cards holds your reports, your files and your colleagues. Getting one set up starts with a conversation. Get in touch and we will show you the product and set the organisation up with you.
Once it exists you are a member of it, and colleagues are added from organisation settings. Always invite them that way rather than having them sign up on their own, so that everyone lands in the same organisation.
Signing in
Sign-in runs through our identity provider rather than a password form inside The Cards, which is what lets you use an account you already have. You can sign in with:
| Method | Notes |
|---|---|
| Email and a one-time code | A code is sent to your work address. No password to remember or rotate. |
| A Google or Google Workspace account. | |
| Microsoft | A personal or work Microsoft account. |
| Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) | Your organisation's own directory, for companies that sign in to everything through Entra. |
| Apple | An Apple account. |
| A LinkedIn account. |
Multi-factor authentication and password rules live with whichever provider you use, so the controls your IT department already enforces apply here too.
Working in more than one organisation
If your account belongs to several organisations, a consultant working with several clients for example, you pick one after signing in and can switch at any time from the organisation selector at the bottom of the left-hand navigation. Reports, files and colleagues are always scoped to the organisation you are currently in.
What you can see
Two separate things decide what you can reach:
- Your permissions: set by your administrator through groups, they decide whether you can read or edit reports, files and publications. See Permissions.
- What your organisation has: not every organisation uses every part of The Cards.
