Comments and threads
Asking a colleague a question on a specific data point, and closing it out.
Discussion in The Cards is attached to individual data points rather than to the report as a whole, so a question is always anchored to the number it is about.
Starting a thread
Open a data point and choose Comments from its toolbar, then New thread. Type your
comment and submit. Use @ to mention a colleague; the list shows the people with access
to the report.
New threads can only be started while the report is Active.
Working in a thread
Each thread is headed with the data point id and links back to that field, so you can jump between the discussion and the answer.
- Anyone with access can reply.
- You can edit or delete your own comments while the report is active.
- URLs in a comment become links automatically.
Resolving
A thread has a Resolve thread switch. Resolving collapses it to its first comment and takes it out of the open count. Re-open brings it back.
This matters for more than tidiness: unresolved threads count against the progress shown on disclosures and topics. A topic is not complete while someone still has an open question on it.
Who gets told
Posting a comment notifies:
- everyone who has already commented in that thread, and
- everyone mentioned with
@in the text.
Notifications go to the in-app inbox and, unless the recipient has turned email off in their profile, to email as well. See Notifications.
